A busy day’s trading at the recent Stirling bull sale saw the purchase of two new stock sires for the Strathisla and Cardean herds along with the sale of two Denizes Logic Simmental sons.

Adding to the Cardean Charolais herd is Goldies Uncle, purchased for 14,000gns, after he stood second in his class to the overall champion on the day. His sire, Caylers Rocky, sired the top price bull at the October sale at Stirling and is proving easily calved with the dam, Goldies Ovette, from a female line which has bred bulls to 20,000gns.

Goldies Uncle is a long, well grown bull with tremendous flesh and end, along with good figures (top 10% for 200, 400 and 600 day growth, milk and scrotal size along with short gestation length).

Joining the Strathisla Simmental herd as a new stock sire is Overhill House Presley. He stood reserve junior champion and was secured with a final bid of 13,000gns. Again, a long and well grown bull who is well put together with good legs, he is sired by Pistyll Kingsman who has bred bulls to 46,000gns.

Two Denizes Logic sons were sold at the same sale. The first being Strathisla Panama, out of the Haka family cow, he sold to J W Sutherland and Son, Bower, Caithness, for 9000gns. Close behind with a final call of 8000gns was Strathisla Prince, out of the Twiggy family cow, he sold to the S G Bull Stud.
