Charolais Dams

Sire: Balmyle Laurier Dam: Balmyle Osprey

Shadow was given to Katie and I as a wedding present by Bill Bruce from  Balmyle. She was first in  her class at the Highland Show in 2003.

A daughter of hers, Cardean Velvet, has produced bulls to 7000gns for Cardean Goshawk and 6200gns for Cardean Honeysuckle and Irnbru. Honeysuckle herself has also bred the 6000gns Cardean Macbeth.

Shadow is also the dam of Cardean Acorn who bred the 6500gns Forestgump.

Sire: Erriff Savo Dam: Anneskeagh Sherry

Virtue was bought at the Anneskeagh dispersal in Southern Ireland in 2005 and has proved to be a great breeder in the herd. She has produced bulls to 5200gns in 2011 and 6000gns in 2014.

Every daughter of hers has been retained in the herd. Her daughter, Cardean Icemaiden, has produced bulls to a top of 6000gns for Cardean Haggis and 5200gns for Cardean Forthefortune, while another daughter, Cardean Orchid is the mother of Cardean Saxon who was second in his class at The Stars of the Future and later sold for 6800gns.

All females from this line have been retained with progeny being available soon.

Sire: Tillbrook Pluto Dam: Kelton Velvet

Two daughters of Velvet were purchased at the Gelson Castle herd dispersal in Stirling in October 2010 including Kelton Candie. The Velvet family was one of the best breeding families in the herd with herself and daughters averaging 5500gns at the sale.

These females have calves by Ringmaster which will likely make an appearance on the show circuit.

Moyness Assett

Sire: Moyness Saltire Dam: Moyness Tassel

One of the first females to be purchased, she has bred Cardean Gucci who then produced Carden Nipper that sold for 5800gns in October 2018. She also produced a daughter, Cardean Jealous, who was reserve junior champion at the Highland is 2015, as well as other notable daughters in the form of Lettuce and Paradise. Asset also bred the 5500gns Disraeli.

This line has bred very well with many females retained and more bulls being available in due course from Asset daughters.

She has produced the prolific breeder, Cardean Moneypenny whose daughters have all been retained in the herd.

Elgin Dominique

She has produced a few females who have formed the backbone of the herd including Cardean Gemma who is the mother of Cardean Oyster a show female contender and mother of the 5500gns Storm and Cardean Nymph who has produced a strong sale bull.

This is yet another consistent family with more coming through from the daughters.

Cardean Nymph

Elegant has produced a Royal Highland prize winner who was also second at The Stars of the Future. To date we have flushed Elegant successfully producing 13 progeny from her.

Cardean Fuchsia

By Blelack Colonel, Fuchisa is out of Cardean Cherry, a Killadeas Jack daughter.

She has bred Cardean Iceburg, who sold for 5500gns and Jasmine who has bred two exceptional females, Nadine and Pansy. There will likely be something from this family making an appearance at this year’s shows and sales.

By Westcarse Jimmy, Ogaradise goes back to the Balmyle Paradise line and was purchased as a new female from the Greenhouse dispersal sale.

Gretnahouse Ogaradise

By Lochend Nighthawk and out of the famous Drink family, this is another exciting prospect to be added to the Cardean herd, purchased from the Greenhouse dispersal.
