February Stirling Sale sees a new herd sire join at 22,000gns and two bulls sold for 10,000gns each

February Stirling Sale proved to be an electric day’s trade for the Simmental breed with the day hitting a record average for the breed. We certainly met that high demand on the day selling both our junior bulls offered for 10,000gns.

First up was Strathisla Ratatouille, lot 608. A bull with serious width combined with a positive calving ease figures and tremendous growth figures. He also has one of the top eye muscle areas combined with good milk.

By the proven easy calver, Denizes Hamish, his dam was brought from the Rathnashan herd in Ireland when she stood junior female champion on sale day. Taking this one home was Nunappleton Estate, Roebuck, York.

Next up and again selling for 10,000gns was Strathisla Rusty, lot 633. A bull with tremendous length, great top and impressive back end, he carries a positive calving ease and tremendous growth figures.

His dam is full of proven genetics such as Arkmill Franklyn and Auroch Ace. The first son from this line, Strathisla Kenya, was kept for the commercial herd and is still with us, while another son was sold to Genus. His sire Rathnashan Newton’s first son sold for 10,000gns in October and is a proven easy calver who is leaving calves with great length and width. Taking this one home was Graeme Richardson, Ardlebank, Kirriemuir.

Coltfield Richard, purchased for 22,000gns

Adding to the tremendous day we managed secure a new stock bull for the herd in the form of Coltfield Richard, purchased for 22,000gns. By Scotland Hill Invader, he’s out of Coltfield Holly, a Tilbrook Basil 10 daughter. He has impressive power, carcass confirmation and great locomotion.
